Fashion Babylon

Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous ( powerful industry insiders who dished the dirt ) gives a no-holds-barred account of what goes on in the world of frocks and frippery.

Told through the eyes of an over-worked designer whose heart races at the cut of a jacket ( or maybe that's all the cocaine she's hoovering up her nose) we're privy to the bitching, the gossip, the stylist's tricks, and the rough trade.
At times, the book is a series of strung-together anecdotes, but it doesn't matter because they're all true. And although Edward-Jones does name names when she can ( Kate , Posh, Naomi ) the beauty is trying to work out exactly who is the flatulent model or the stingy designer who doesn't give their staff a Christmas knees-up.

It also lays bare the millions of pounds that's at stake, the mark-ups, the snobbery and the madness.

And next time you're shopping: if you're going for designer make it Prada, and for High Street stick to good 'ole Marks and Sparks. Read this great book to find out why.
