Without Portfolio

20th February 2007, Loma-Ann Marks

No I don't have a portfolio,
I'd rather have typhus or polio,
I hope you don't mind,
But I'm starting to find,
That I'd rather just stay on the dolio.

And no I don't have a CV,
There's nothing I wanted to be,
There's much more to do,
At the back of the queue,
So don't bother to interview me.

I'm really not out to impress,
Though I do have an e-mail address,
It's Benjamin underscore Heathcote
dot info @ couldn't care forward slash less.

What's it really like to live as an artist? Does it pay the bills? ( probably not ) Will you have to sell out? ( more than likely) Will you forever be on the precipice of success , only to be pipped at the post by so and so's daughter/brother/shag ( yes.)

But doom and gloom are great creative motivators, and at least, you'll have a great body of work even if you're living on canned tuna. Recent RCA Masters Graduate and now freelance poet and illustrator, Benjamin Heathcote is embarking on this illustrious journey. Every month he'll be keeping us up-to-date with his forays into the world of poetry and tinned fish.
